Anglers to meet

Members of the Puget Sound Anglers’ North Olympic Peninsula Chapter will be hosting an open to the public general meeting on Wednesday, July 17, at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road. People start gathering at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Keith Beck, owner of McKay Shrimp and Crab Gear in Brinnon. Beck will give an overview of his business and will pass along tips and techniques for crabbing and shrimping.

The club will also have a short business meeting, fishing reports and raffle drawings following his talk. Raffles are for members only. The “big ticket” raffle item is a Rainshadow RDR96MH E-glass custom built spiral wrap downrigger rod from Bill Batson and Batson Enterprises. Tickets for the rod are $10 each. Attendees can join that night to participate in the raffle. An annual individual membership is $25, and a family membership is $35. Membership also includes The Reel News monthly newspaper.

Boekhoff gets first ace

Sequim’s Jim Boekhoff got his first hole-in-one in late June, earning the feat at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course.

Boekhoff used a 7-iron to drive the 131-yard hole No. 17 at The Cedars.

Everton soccer camp set in Sequim

Everton Soccer School will hold a soccer camp for Sequim Junior Soccer players ages 7-14

The camp will be held at the Haller Playfields, 500 N. Blake Ave., from 9 a.m.-noon, July 29-Aug. 2.

Cost is $205 per camper. Families interested in hosting Everton coaches for the week will receive a free player registration fee.

BMX Ladies Nights on tap at PA track

Lincoln Park BMX Track will hold a series of Wednesday evening Ladies Nites at the Track events beginning Wednesday.

The Ladies Nites will run from 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, and again July 31, Aug. 14 and 28.

The events are free with a one-day USABMX membership or a current USABMX membership.

Sponsored by Soroptimist International of Port Angeles, the evenings are open to all ages.

Hoops shooting clinic set in PA

A basketball shooting skills clinic for boys and girls entering fourth through eighth grades this fall will be offered July 22-24 by Port Angeles High School boys basketball coach Kasey Ulin.

The clinic will be held at the Port Angeles High School gymnasium, 304 E. Park Ave., from 5-6:30 p.m.

Ulin will provide instruction on shooting mechanics, drills, techniques and ways to become an elite shooter.

All players will receive a camp T-shirt, 1-on-1 coaching and drills to work on at home. Campers should dress to play basketball and bring court shoes.

Cost is $75 at the door, with checks made to Port Angeles Boys Basketball.

Volleyball academy slates youth camp

Momentum One Volleyball Academy will hold a camp with sessions for girls entering seventh through 12th grades this fall Aug. 5-7.

The camp will be held at the Peninsula College gym with high schoolers from 1-4 p.m. and seventh- and eighth-graders attending from 5-8 p.m.

The cost is $100 along with a $20 USA Volleyball membership and includes a camp T-shirt.
