Memorial Day tourney set at SkyRidge

Format is a blind draw, two-person better ball. Cost is $70 for both days; $40 for golf, $20 for the honey pot and $10 for lunch on May 30.

Tee times are at 8 a.m. both days.

SkyRidge is at 7015 Old Olympic Highway. Call 683-3673 for more information or to register.

Time to sign up for summer soccer camp

Sequim Junior Soccer will be partnering with UK Elite Soccer in offering players summer soccer camp opportunities.

UK Elite Soccer provide summer soccer camps to challenge and motivate young players using Global Soccer Curriculum designed to improve each individual player. Players are instructed by UK Elite professional coaching staff. See www.sequimjuniorsoccer.com for more details.

Golfers aid VHOCC

Sequim golfers went all out for a good cause — and some bragging rights, too. The four-member team of Kathy Benedict, Kitty Gross, Ruth Thompson and Wanda Synnestvedt topped the field at The Cedars at Dungeness Women’s 9-Hole Group Memorial Tournament, held May 12. The event raises funds via entry fees and an auction for Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.

This year’s tourney, the sixth annual event in as many years, raised about $3,500 for the local nonprofit. Taking second place was the team of Patti Wirz, Barbara Burrows, Jo Hendrickson and Joanne White. Third place went to Olympia Brehm, Lindsay Busch, Pat Conway, Dot Forshee and Bobbie Piety.

Port Angeles duffer gets first ace

Blaine Pugsley of Port Angeles sank his first hole-in-one at The Cedars at Dungeness on May 9. Pugsley aced the 150-yard hole No. 4 at The Cedars using a 6-iron. Larry Elliott and John Nally of Sequim and Bates Bankert of Port Angeles witnessed the feat.
