Sports briefs: October 22, 2014

Here are some upcoming sporting events and results.

Root on ‘Hawks at P.C.

Community residents are invited to join Peninsula College students and staff in a special “Rock Out/Hawk Out Event” celebrating the Seattle Seahawks from noon-1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24, on the main campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., in Port Angeles, rain or shine.

The event starts with a noontime barbecue tailgate gathering on the campus quad and includes competitions, game day music and giveaways, followed by a group picture.

Attendees are asked to wear Seahawks gear or blue and green-colored clothing.

Lightning take a win

The Storm King Lightning Boys U-11 soccer team got back in the win column on Oct. 18 at home by defeating NSC Galaxy 3-2.

The Lightning fell behind early but battled back to even it as Matt Mangano scored an unassisted goal. Harrison Bell then put the Lightning ahead early in the second half with an unassisted goal of his own.

After the Galaxy tied it at 2-2, Kobe Applegate scored the game-winner off of an assist from Ethan Knight.

With the win, the Lightning remain atop the North Puget Sound League standings with a record of 6-0-1.

The Lightning are at Seattle United South on Oct. 25 with a game time of 2 p.m.
