The future of Sequim hoops looks good.
Sequim Middle School’s seventh-grade boys basketball completed an 8-1 season Jan. 24 with a 57-36 thrashing of Forks.
The Timberwolves played a full-court press defense, forcing turnovers by Forks that turned into easy Sequim baskets. Jayson Brocklesby, Sequim’s leading scorer, once again led the team with 18 points and nine rebounds. Gabe Carter added nine points while both Dylan Eckhoff and Shawn Buck added six points.ÂÂ
The victory avenged a five-point loss to Forks earlier in the season.
“I encouraged our team to use this as motivation during practice and at home to continue to work hard as we were going to be ready for Forks the next time we played them,” Sequim coach Kris Henrikson said. “The boys’ effort paid off, as they confidently earned the victory. It was a fantastic end to a rewarding season. I look forward to watching these young men continue to develop next year and on into high school.”
