Through bitter cold temperatures and a driving rain, the first Olympic League track meet is in the books.

Sequim’s boys (88.3 team points) got off to a strong start with a second-place finish in the eight-team Port Angeles Invitational on March 17, placing behind North Kitsap (115.3) and ahead of league foes Port Angeles (80) and Olympic (59.5).

Sophomores led the day with top finishes, including Riley Martin’s 16.32 mark in the 110-hurdles that places him in the top five in early season 2A results across the state, while fellow soph Murray Bingham raced to a 4:28 finish in the 1,500 meters for first. Alec Shingleton, also a sophomore, took second in the 800 with a 2:13 mark.
