The visiting Bainbridge Spartans were tough on the Wolves as they swept a three-game match in the Olympic Peninsula Academy gym on Sept. 26 (25-12, 25-15, 25-14).
The Wolves recorded just six kills (four by Jolene Vaara) and three assists (each by Sydney Clark) in the loss.
SHS libero Tiffany Lam had a team-high nine digs.
Vaara had both of the team’s aces and two of the Wolves’ four blocks.
Sequim rebounded two days later with a three-set sweep of the winless Bremerton Knights (25-7, 25-8, 25-14).
Vaara paced the offense with 10 kills while Clark was sharp with 24 assists and three kills. Arianna Stovall had four of the team’s 15 aces, as the Wolves were 63-of-69 (91 percent) from the serving stripe.
She also had three blocks.
“Our tough serving took Bremerton out of the match,” Sequim coach Jennie Webber-Heilman said.
Sydney Hegtvedt, who finished a perfect 9-of-9 on serves with three aces, had a nine-point serving run to cap the first game.
Ashton Reichner, who was 13-for-13 on serves, had a 13-point serving run in game two.
Looking ahead
Sequim (4-2 in Olympic League, 4-3 overall) was scheduled to host Kingston on Oct. 3; results were not available at press time.
The Wolves are at North Mason on Oct. 5 before traveling to Olympia for the Capital City Invite on Oct. 7.
Sequim hosts Port Angeles on Oct. 10 and Olympic on Oct. 12.
