Sequim Wolf Pack Youth Football is adding some extra cheers to the sidelines.
The 3-year-old organization announced last week it is adding opportunities for youths in kindergarten-eighth grade to participate as cheerleaders under the direction of cheer coordinator Tiffani Mote.
“Our program has at last reached a level comparable to the other teams in the North Olympic Youth Football League, all of which have cheerleading as a part of their programs,” Sequim Wolf Pack president Phil Langston said.
Mote said the organization will make efforts to keep siblings together.
An informational/sizing session is scheduled for 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St., Sequim. Prospective cheerleaders may learn more information, ask questions, get properly sized and register. Registration fees are $75 and pay for uniform rental for the season. Those wishing to purchase uniforms can do so by pre-paying an additional $75.
Anyone interested in joining SWP football for the 2013 season also can preregister at that time, as coaches also will be on hand with forms and to answer questions about the upcoming youth football season.
“We have a lot of exciting things planned for this summer,” Langston said. “Every year, we get better and expand our activities for young people. We have a complete complement of coaches for all three teams and already have been meeting to make sure that our young people will have the best opportunity to have the best experience possible.”
Looking ahead
Langston said Sequim Wolf Pack organizers have plans for summer conditioning and speed camps as well as fundraiser dinners.
In conjunction with Pacific Primary Care, Sequim Wolf Pack is providing sports physicals to all Sequim School District students for $20 on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Boys & Girls Club. Registration for football and cheerleading also will be available, as well as equipment issue. Practices are slated to start Aug 19.
