The lanes will have to be quiet for now.

Sequim bowlers finished their 2007-08 season at the West Central District tournament Jan. 26 in Lakewood after two Wolves — Breanna Krumpe and Samantha Whiteside — qualified for the tourney but didn’t make the cut for the 1A/2A/3A state finals.

Shelton (3,509 pins) won the district title while Bremerton was second and Olympic was third.

Krumpe and Whiteside earned individual district berths after the Wolves finished sixth of six teams at the Olympic League Bowling Tournament Jan. 22 in Silverdale.

Krumpe bowled a 144, 133 and 134 (411 series) and Whiteside bowled a 121, 111 and 156 (388) to qualify.

Bremerton topped all teams with a 3,277-pin team score while Olympic (3,034 pins) was second and Klahowya (2,930) was third.

Sequim (2,181 pins) was 50 pins behind fifth-place North Mason.

“(We) bowled well and showed much improvement since the start of the year,” Sequim coach Dave Ditlefsen said.

Sequim falls in final double-dual match

The West Sound has some of the best bowling teams in the state. That’s not particularly good news for Sequim’s young prep squad.

Sequim dropped both ends of a doubleheader Jan. 17 to Klahowya and powerhouse Olympic, earning one Baker-format win against Klahowya for the Wolves’ lone team point.

Sequim finished 1-13 on the season.

Against the Eagles, Whiteside put up Sequim’s best numbers, knocking down 147 pins for the high game and 263 pins overall while teammate Roselli Marsall bowled a 248-pin series.

Against the Trojans, Krumpe led the Wolves with a 151-pin game and 298-pin series while Marsall had 260 pins in her series and Tina Schell had a 128-pin game.
