Wolves score 110 ‘Scholastic’ points

With four state tournament-qualifying teams, Sequim High School scored 110 points in the fall 2008-2009 Wells Fargo Scholastic Cup, tied for 22nd among 43 participating Washington 2A high schools.

The Scholastic Cup is a competition among state schools at all levels. Points are awarded based upon performance on the field and in the classroom.

Sequim’s top point-scoring team was the girls’ cross country team that finished in a tie for fourth place at the state meet.

Squalicum leads the 2A rankings with 470 points followed by Archbishop Murphy (420 points) and Tumwater (380).

Port Angeles is tied for 43rd among 3A schools with 30 points, all based on their volleyball team’s eighth-place finish in academics.

Other Olympic League schools include: Port Townsend, 140 points, 14th in 1A classification; North Mason, 110 points, tied with Sequim for 22nd in 2A; Kingston, 50 points, 34th in 2A; Klahowya, 0 points in 2A; North Kitsap, 90 points, tied for 25th in 3A; Olympic, 35 points, tied for 41st in 3A; and Bremerton, 0 points in 3A.
