The shots are falling early for the Sequim Wolves, whose boys’ and girls’ teams swept the Olympic Trojans on March 18 at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Bremerton.

Zoei Zbaraschuk scored 32 Stableford points to earn medalist honors as the Wolves’ girls topped Olympic 82-64. Sequim’s Kim Duce and Hailey Estes each scored 15 points, followed by Lisa Doan with 11 and Ashley Morton with nine.

"The girls were very happy with the win but not too thrilled with their individual scores," said Sequim coach Garrett Smithson.

Tiffany Strafford led Olympic with 25 Stableford points.

The competition was tighter on the boys’ side but thanks to big days from Ryan O’Mera and Jake Dethlefsen, Sequim pulled out a 42-40 win.

O’Mera finished with a nine-hole round of 38, good for 15 Stableford points, sharing medalist honors with Trojan Mike Noyes.

Dethlefsen finished his round in 42 shots, good for 11 points.

"That was really the difference," Sequim coach Vic Quinet said.

Steve Loerlein had seven points, while Casey Torres added five and Brendon Hudson had four.

The result gave Sequim’s boys back-to-back wins after the Wolves won a seven-team jamboree at their home

course at The Cedars at Dungeness on March 15.

Sequim finished with a score of 214, four shots better than Port Townsend and seven shots better than Chimacum. The Wolves also topped Kingston (fourth), Olympic (fifth) and North Kitsap (sixth).

O’Mera finished with a round of even par (37), one shot back from medalist Mason Moug of Chimacum.

"(It was a) good experience for some of the younger ones," Quinet said.

Port Angeles’ Roughriders, whom Quinet said played quite well, didn’t put enough golfers on the course to have an official score.

Sequim’s boys were slated to play at Chimacum on March 22 – results were unavailable at press time.

Both Sequim squads host the Klahowya Eagles in an Olympic League match-up on March 25.
