Coming off their first loss of the season — albeit to the defending NWAACC champions — Peninsula’s women got healthy last week.

Wenatchee Valley and Olympic bore the brunt of the Pirates’ recovery.

Peninsula started the week with a 5-0 win against Olympic on Oct. 10.

Five different Pirates scored in the contest, a 2-0 game that turned into a rout after P.C. scored three times in the final few minutes.

Kendra Miner put the Pirates on the board early, finding the net off a Briana Afoa assist in the first three minutes. Ashly Crossan made it 2-0 off an Emily Stefanko assist at 24 minutes.

That’s the way it stayed until Morgan Atchley, Aubrey Briscoe and Shelbi Vienna-Hallam each scored within 10 minutes of each other at game’s end.

Melissa Delgado had two assists in the win.

Denae Brooks recorded the shutout, P.C.’s seventh of the season.

Backup goalie Laura Morgan made it eight shutouts with a 15-0 whitewash of Wenatchee Valley on Oct. 13.

Six different Pirates found the net — including Afoa and Irene Jones four times each — in the blowout. Miner and Brianna Estrallado finished with two scores and two goals apiece. 

The Pirates have scored an NWAACC-high 88 goals this season; Spokane is second with 51.

The Pirates are at Bellevue tomorrow, Oct. 17, and host rival Highline on Saturday, Oct. 20; game time is noon.

Peninsula is at Tacoma on Oct. 27 and Olympic on Oct. 31 before closing the regular season with a Nov. 3 home match versus Bellevue.

The NWAACC playoffs begin Nov. 7.
