A busy season, but a successful one.
Sequim’s fifth- and seventh-grade boys AAU basketball squads finished their 2013-2014 seasons recently. Both teams played in several tournaments and a league put on by the City of Poulsbo.
Sequim’s fifth-grade team started its season in December, earning second place at the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Holiday Hoopfest Tourney and following that with a third-place finish at the Martin Luther King Invitational in January. After a fourth-place finish in February’s President’s Day Classic, the team rebounded to take the division title at Port Angeles’ Olympic Lodge Spring Hoopfest on March 9.
Despite playing one grade level up, the fifth-grade team went 8-2 in the Poulsbo league.
Sequim’s seventh-grade squad went 3-1 at its first tourney, the Wildcat Shootout in Auburn, in November. The squad took third place at the President’s Day Classic in February and wrapped up its season with a fourth place finish at the Olympic Lodge Hoopfest.
The seventh-grade squad compiled a 24-6 record for the 2013-2014 season.
